Breaking news: The UK government today (Wednesday) announced plans for a review of the UK covered bond regime as part of its budget.

The budget said:

“The Government and the Financial Services Authority (FSA) will shortly publish a review of the UK’s regulatory framework for covered bonds. The review will consult on measures to enhance the attractiveness of UK covered bonds to investors, making it easier for banks and building societies to raise funding in order to lend to households and businesses.”
