Allon joins NN as head of treasury from NIBC
Former ECBC chair Niek Allon has joined Nationale-Nederlanden Bank (NN Bank) as head of treasury from NIBC, where he was head of DCM and syndicate.
Allon started at NN Bank yesterday (Monday). In his new role as head of treasury, he is responsible for the initiation and execution of long/short term capital market funding, capital management, and liquidity and interest rate management, and also a member of the bank’s balance sheet management and asset/liability committees. NN Bank CFO Kees van Kalveen had previously headed treasury on an interim basis alongside his main role.
Allon had been head of debt capital markets and syndicate at NIBC since 2016, after working in a variety of treasury and structuring roles at the bank since 1997.
He was chair of the European Covered Bond Council (ECBC) from April 2017 to December 2019 – a longer than usual term, after he stepped up early when previous chair Waleed El-Amir left his position as head of group finance at UniCredit. He was succeeded as ECBC chair by Boudewijn Dierick of BNP Paribas.
NN Bank last month announced it is setting up a soft bullet covered bond programme to supersede its conditional pass-through programme – a structure that NIBC pioneered.
